Who We Are

Empowering the future of our students

HBCU IMPACT® is the single organization most responsible for identifying, educating, and mentoring emerging talent, expressly for career opportunities in the insurance, risk management, financial services, and legal industries. We are a 501(c)(3) that works with HBCUs and other higher education institutions to prepare students through experiential cohorts, internships, and licensing to deconstruct barriers to entry. Insurance is the oldest financial instrument and one of the most consistent wealth-producing trades in the world. The work of HBCU IMPACT® is to create a pipeline to empower the next generation of industry professionals.

What We Do

We partner with colleges and universities

HBCU IMPACT® works with colleges and universities to identify ambitious students, license them for the insurance industry, provide mentoring, and career readiness resources. We leverage our industry relationships to provide a fast track for student placement at the most respected organizations in the insurance industry. In partnership with the National African American Insurance Association (NAAIA) and the Insurance Information Institutes (The Institutes), we can leverage industry and national resources in support of our educational programs and branded initiatives.

Our focus is recruitment and retention, to support and develop early career talent to ensure representation and perspectives that give companies a competitive advantage. Through our relationship with National Invest and the Society of Black Agents (SOBA), we provide insurance education for aspiring professionals at the high school and collegiate levels. Our education partners, RS Thomas & Associates and Encore Claim Services, provide claims adjuster and agent licensing across the 50 states. HBCU IMPACT® events and initiatives are offered at no cost to our student participants.
